Mets in town

It’s an oddly scheduled week for some National League squads, as two-game series have teams bouncing from city to city. The Mets come into Wrigley Field for tonight and Tuesday after playing the Sunday night game in Philadelphia last night. It will be the only time New York visits Wrigley Field this season.

After this set, the Cubs will head out of town for two games against the Rockies and then cross-country to Washington D.C. for the weekend.

Lineup

Johnson, CF
Theriot, SS

Lee, 1B

Ramirez, 3B

Fukudome, RF

DeRosa, LF

Soto, C

Fontenot, 2B

Zambrano, RHP

Hard-throwing right-hander John Maine (1-1, 3.78) takes the mound for the Mets.

Tonight’s game can be seen on WCIU in the Chicago area and on ESPN nationally. Remember the earlier 6:05 Central start time.

Highly offensive

The Cubs lead the National League with a .282 batting average, 42 doubles and a .366 on-base percentage … Aramis Ramirez has reached base safely in all 18 games this season … Derrek Lee’s seven April home runs are just one short of the team record, shared by Lee Walls (1958), Shane Andrews (2000) and Sammy Sosa (2000, ’02).

Keep an eye out for the May issue of Vine Line, covering the on- and off-the-field issues surrounding Lee’s resurgence this season.
