Game 1: Starter Alberto Cabrera kept the Chiefs close, but neither team could get on the scoreboard after the third inning as Quad Cities held on to defeat Peoria 3-2.

? 1B Jovan Rosa hit his second home run of the year, a solo shot with two-out in the second inning to cut the lead to 2-1.

? LF Dylan Johnston went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and a run scored … Johnston also earned an outfield assist, throwing out Quad Cities 1B Andrew Brown at second base.


Game 2: Peoria scored four times in the first, but was shut out the rest of the way as Quad Cities came back to sweep the doubleheader, 7-4.

? C Mario Mercedes went 1-for-3 with three RBI, coming on a bases-clearing double in the first inning.

Tennessee Smokies (AA): 15-25 Overall

North Division 5th Place (-14.0)


Huntsville completed the sweep with a 3-2 win over the Smokies … Tennessee dropped their fifth consecutive contest, marking the third time this season the club has lost five or more games in a row.

RHP Mitch Atkins (L 2-4, 3.91) 7.0 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K


? RHP Mitch Atkins earned his second consecutive quality outing … over his last two starts, Atkins is 1-1 with a 1.26 (2 ER/14.1 IP) and a .189 (10-for-53) average against.

? RHP Tanner Watson tossed 2.0 inning of shutout relief, walking one and striking out one … this marked Watson’s first scoreless relief outing of the season (four relief appearances).

? 2B Matt Matulia was 1-for-2 with two RBI, recording his first multi-RBI affair of the season.

Daytona Cubs (A+): 18-21 Overall

East Division 5th Place (-6.0)


Despite jumping onto the board early, Daytona lost the rubber match to Brevard County, 6-3 … The Cubs fell to 11-12 when playing away from Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

? 3B Josh Lansford recorded Daytona’s lone multi-hit game, and his ninth of the season, going 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

? RF Jim Adducci went 1-for-4 with an RBI … on the series, he is hitting .333 (4-for-12) with a walk, two RBI, and a run scored.

? RHP Dumas Garcia extended his scoreless inning streak to 10.1 with a 1-2-3 eighth frame.
