The Smokies let a lead slip away, but scored in the top of the ninth to take their fifth straight game, a 5-4 victory over West Tennessee.

HOMERS – Matt Craig (4)

? DH Jake Fox went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, a run scored and an RBI … he has
games, batting .409 (9-for-22) with six doubles, a walk, and three RBI in those games.
? 1B Matt Craig went deep for the second straight game, going 1-for-3 with the homer,
scored and an RBI … he is 6-for-11 in the series so far, with two walks, a double, two
runs scored and three RBI.
? Starter Jeff Samardzija gave up one run on just three hits over 6.0 innings, but did
decision … he recorded back-to-back quality starts for the first time this season.

Northern Division 1st Place (+1.5)

Iowa erased Nashville’s early 2-0 lead, but the Sounds scored late to put the game away, beating the I-Cubs, 5-2.

LHP Randy Keisler (L 4-6, 3.14)  6.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 5 BB, 5 K

? SS Andres Blanco turned in Iowa’s only multi-hit performance, going 2-for-3 and plating both I-Cubs runs … he has hit in seven straight games, going 9-for-22 (.409) over that stretch.
? 2B Eric Patterson, who went 1-for-4, has hit in his last eight road games, going 14-for-33 (.424) over the span.
? Starter Randy Keisler turned in his third quality start of his last four starts, and his sixth of the season.

Daytona Cubs (A+): 27-30 Overalldaytona.gif
East Division 4th Place (-9.0)

Despite holding division-leader Palm Beach to just three hits, Daytona was edged by the Cardinals, 2-1.

RHP Jose Ceda (ND 2-2, 4.65) 4.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K

? 2B Tony Thomas had three of the game’s eight hits, finishing 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored … it was his third three-hit game in his last four contests, and his sixth multi-hit affair in his last seven games.
? Starting pitcher Jose Ceda struck out seven hitters over 4.0 innings pitched, allowing just one walk and one hit, a solo home run in the fourth.
? RHP Michael Phelps threw 2.0 perfect innings of relief, striking out one to record his ninth scoreless outing of the year.

Peoria Chiefs (A-): 24-33 Overallchiefs.gif
Western Division 6th Place (-17.0)

Despite being out-hit by Peoria, Wisconsin was able to comeback against the Chiefs bullpen, taking the game, 9-6.

HOMERS – Smith (8)

? 2B Marquez Smith was 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI … over the first two games of the series, he is 5-for-10 with a double, two homers, four runs scored and three RBI.
? 1B Jovan Rosa went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored and an RBI … the double was his 18th of the season, good for the team lead and tied for second in the Midwest League.
? RHP Andy Santana tossed 1.0 shutout innings of relief … he has allowed just one hit and no walks while striking out one over his last three appearances (3.0 IP).
