Iowa held two separate leads during the game, but Albuquerque overcame both, beating the Cubs, 4-2.

HOMERS – Andres Torres 2 (8)

? CF Andres Torres plated both Iowa runs on his first multi-homer game of the season … he connected for solo shots in the first and third frames … over the four-game series, he was 9-for-20 (.450) with three doubles, three homers, six runs scored and eight RBI.
? In his first start since joining Iowa, RHP Jeff Samardzija took the loss, but recorded a quality start, surrendering three runs on seven hits, while walking two and striking out five over 6.0 frames.

Tennessee Smokies (AA): 5-2 Overallsmokies.gif
North Division 1st Place (+1.0)

The Smokies bats came alive for 12 runs on 21 hits, routing West Tenn, 12-5 … Tennessee has won six of its last eight, after dropping its previous eight.

HOMERS – Welington Castillo (3)

? 1B Matt Craig was 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, three runs scored, and two RBI … it marked his third four-hit affair of the season.
? C Welington Castillo connected for his third homer of the year, a two-run shot in the ninth inning … he was 3-for-5 with the homer, two runs scored and three RBI, upping his season average to .340.
? RHP Jose Ceda tossed 2.0 scoreless innings of relief, converting his second save in as many chances … he yielded one hit, issued one free pass, and struck out four.

Daytona Cubs (A+): 3-3 Overall

Daytona could not climb out of a three-run deficit, losing to Tampa, 4-1.

? 1B Russ Canzler recorded the Cubs only multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
? Daytona’s offense leads the Florida State League with a .276 (715-for-2594) batting average.
? Despite going 0-for-4, DH Blake Lalli‘s .325 batting average ranks tied for third in the Florida State League.

Peoria Chiefs (A-): 1-5 Overall

Peoria won its first game of the second half, edging Burlington, 5-4.

? SS Gian Guzman tripled to right in the third inning, his first of the year … he was 1-for-2 with two walks, the triple and two runs scored on the night.
? LF Brandon Guyer led the Chiefs offense, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI … he picked up his first multi-RBI game since driving in three June 5.

Boise got on the board first, but couldn’t hold on to the slim lead as Everett pulled off a walk-off, 5-4 win.

RHP Jose Pina (ND 0-0, 2.25) 2.0 IP, 1 J, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K

? 1B Rebel Ridling continued his hot hitting, going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBI … he is hitting at a .375 (9-for-24) with three doubles, a homer, four runs scored and nine RBI in seven games.
? 2B Jake Opitz was 1-for-4 with a walk, a triple, and a RBI … he has hit safely in five of his six games.

Mesa Cubs (R): 1-2 Overall

The AZ Cubs ninth-inning rally paid off as the Cubs picked their first win of the season, defeating the AZ Giants, 4-3.
