Game 1: Iowa erased two Round Rock leads, but dropped game one of the twin-bill, 3-2 in eight innings.

HOMERS – Felix Pie (6)

? CF Felix Pie tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo shot, his sixth homer of the year … he finished the game 1-for-4 with the dinger, a run scored and an RBI.
? 2B Bobby Scales hit in his 10th straight game, going 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored … he is hitting .421 (16-for-38) with eight walks, four doubles, three homers, 16 runs scored and six RBI over that span.

Game 2: The I-Cubs built a 5-0 lead on four homers for Jeff Samardzija, who went the distance, as Iowa earned the split, beating the Express, 5-2.

? Starter Samardzija held the Express scoreless through the first six frames of his seven-inning complete game performance … in the end, he yielded two runs on seven hits, walking none while striking out seven.

Tennessee Smokies (AA): 15-7 Overall

The Smokies defeated West Tennessee by a score of 5-2 for the second straight night … Tennessee has won seven of its last eight meetings with the Diamond Jaxx.

HOMERS – Shane Reynolds (7), Nate Spears (2), Sam Fuld (2)

? 2B Nate Spears was 2-for-4 with a homer, a run scored and three RBI … the three RBI match a season high, achieved twice before.
? CF Sam Fuld reached base four times, going 2-for-3 with two walks, a homer, a run scored and an RBI … he has walked in nine of his last 21 plate appearances.

HOMERS – Yusuf Carter (10), James Adduci (1)

? RF Yusuf Carter belted his 10th home run of the year to cut Dunedin’s lead to one … he finished the game 3-for-4 with the homer, two runs scored and an RBI.
? CF James Adduci picked a good time for his first home run of the year, as he broke the 2-2 tie with a  two-out, seventh-inning grand slam … the slam was the first of the year for Daytona.
? RHP Todd Blackford picked up his second win of the year, tossing 3.0 innings of scoreless relief, yielding two hits and a walk.

Peoria Chiefs (A-): 13-7 Overall

Peoria shrugged off a first-inning run, shutting out Kane County the rest of the way and beating the Cougars, 5-1 … it was the Chiefs’ fifth straight win over the Cougars, catapulting them into first place.

RHP Kevin Kreier(W)

? 1B Luis Bautista went 4-for-5 with a double and a run scored … it marked his 19th multi-hit affair in 43 games with Peoria, raising his average to .368.
? Starter Kevin Kreier threw 5.0 innings, giving up just one run on five hits and two walks while striking out four … he has allowed just one earned run in his last three starts, spanning 14.2 innings (0.61 ERA).
? RHP Stephen Vento tossed 2.0 scoreless innings allowing one hit and fanning two to earn his 10th save.

? RHP Julio Pena picked up his first win of the year, tossing 4.2 scoreless innings of two-hit, one-walk relief, fanning four … he has allowed just one run in four appearances this year spanning 16.2 innings (0.54 ERA), yielding just eight hits and four walks while striking out eight.
