Boise extends its winning streak to five games with a 6-4 win over Tri-City … the Hawks last four wins have come over the Dust Devils.

RHP Mike Perconte (ND 1-1, 5.32) 3.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

? 3B Josh Vitters recorded his third straight multi-hit affair, going 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored … he has hit safely in his last six games, hitting at a .407 (11-for-27) clip over the stretch.
? RF Andrew Rundle tripled for the second time in his last three games … he ended the night, 2-for-3 with a walk, the triple, two runs scored and an RBI … he has collected four straight multi-hit games.
? LHP Luke Sommer picked up a hold in his first appearance with Boise, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings of relief, yielding a walk and a hit, while striking out one.
? RHP Tommy Mejia converted his second consecutive save, hurling a scoreless ninth, walking one and striking out one.



Tennessee Smokies (AA): 17-10 Overallsmokies.gif
North Division 1st Place (+2.0)

Tennessee jumped out to an early lead, but couldn’t recover from a pair of Huntsville four-run innings as the Smokies fell to the Stars, 9-3.

RHP Grant Johnson (L) 4.0 IP, 7 H, 8 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 1 K

? RF Doug Deeds, who was 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored, extended his hitting streak to seven games … he is 13-for-26 (.500) with three doubles, four runs scored, five RBI and five multi-hit affairs over the stretch.
? C Welington Castillo went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI … he is batting .388 (19-for-49) with 10 RBI in 15 road games this season.


Peoria Chiefs (A-): 18-9 Overall

Peoria and Lansing had a back-and-forth struggle with each team adding a run in the ninth, but the Chiefs came up short, losing to the Lugnuts, 8-7.

RHP Audy Santana (L) 3.0 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 3 K

? SS Nate Samson extended his hitting streak to eight games, going 3-for-5 with a run scored … he is batting .424 (14-for-33) with five multi-hit games over the span.
? 1B Rebel Ridling was 1-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and three RBI … he is 4-for-9 with a walk, two doubles, a homer, three runs scored and six RBI in his first two home games with Peoria.
? RHP Jake Muyco tossed 2.0 scoreless innings of relief, yielding two hits and fanning two … he is 1-0 with three saves and a 2.25 ERA (2 ER/8.0 IP) in five July appearances.


Mesa Cubs (R): 11-9 Overall

Mesa won and won big, pounding out 20 runs on 20 hits as they cruised past the AZL Padres, 20-8 … the AZL Cubs snapped a three-game losing skid with the win.

HOMERS – Jericho Jones (2)

? LF Jericho Jones belted a two-out grand slam as part of the Cubs 10-run fourth frame … he ended the day 2-for-5 with a double, the slam, two runs scored and four RBI.
? 3B John Contreras extended his hitting streak to eight games, going 2-for-6 with a double and two runs scored.
? Every Cubs starter recorded a multi-hit game, except CF TeWayne Willis, who was 0-for-5 with two runs scored and was hit by a pitch twice.
