Iowa erased three Las Vegas leads, but the 51s pushed across the game-winner in the bottom of the ninth to knock off the I-Cubs, 8-7.

HOMERS – Micah Hoffpauir (13), Koyie Hill (12)

? 1B Micah Hoffpauir went 2-for-5 with a dinger, a run scored and two RBI … in 16 July games, he is hitting .405 (30-for-74) with 13 doubles, six homers, 15 runs scored and 29 RBI.
? C Koyie Hill homered for the second day in a row, a game-tying solo shot in the eighth … he finished the day 2-for-4 with the long ball, a run scored and an RBI.
? CF Felix Pie went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored to raise his average to a season-high .282.

The Smokies carried a 2-0 lead to the eighth inning, but Mobile pushed across three runs in the bottom half to squeeze past Tennessee, 3-2.

? LF Jake Fox went 1-for-3 with a homer, a run scored, an RBI and a hit-by-pitch … marked his eighth homer in July, and he is sporting a .644 slugging percentage for the month.
? RF Doug Deeds was 1-for-3 with a walk, a roundtripper, a run scored and an RBI … his .348 average continues to rank second to Huntsville’s Mat Gamel (.361) in the race for the Southern League batting title.
? Starter Esmailin Caridad held the BayBears hitless into the sixth inning, recording his fourth quality start in eight outings with Tennessee.

The Chiefs pushed across a pair in the first inning, but were held scoreless the rest of the way, as they dropped a 3-2 decision at Fort Wayne.

? DH Luis Bautista logged the only multi-hit game for the Chiefs, going 3-for-4 with two RBI … he raised his average to .390 (46-for-118) in road games this year.
? LF Jake Opitz doubled in his second straight game, finishing 1-for-4 with a run scored … six of his first eight hits since his promotion from Boise have been doubles.
? RHP John Muller yielded a hit and a walk, striking out a pair over 2.0 scoreless innings in his first appearance with Peoria.

Boise overcame two deficits in a back-and-forth game, riding a three-run eighth inning to a 7-5 victory to end their 14-game drought against Salem-Keizer.

? LF Andrew Rundle connected for the game-winning three-run blast in the eighth … he finished 1-for-4 with the dinger, a run scored and three RBI.
? 1B Michael Brenly reached base four times, going 2-for-3 with two walks, a double, two runs scored and a stolen base … he has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, going 18-for-34 (.529) with four doubles, 14 runs scored and seven RBI over that stretch.
? Starter Marcus Hatley tossed 3.0 hitless innings, walking two and fanning three.


Mesa Cubs (R): 1-0 Overall, First Half: 17-10 Overall

Mesa jumped out to an 8-0 lead after four frames, cruising to an 11-2 waxing of the AZL Giants.

? LF Bryan Jost went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI … marked his second straight three-hit performance, raising his average from .229 to .304.
? 3B John Contreras went 2-for-4 with a walk, a triple, two runs scored and two RBI … he is currently batting .367, and his average has not dipped below .358 so far this year.
? Starter Larry Suarez tossed 2.0 innings of hitless ball, walking a pair and punching out one in his third straight scoreless outing (4.0 IP).
