? SS Luis Figueroa went 2-for-3 with a homer, a run scored, three RBI and a sacrifice fly … after hitting only .225 in April, he has hit over .300 in each month since (.342, .313, .301).
? Starter Jason Stanford tossed five shutout innings of four-hit ball, walking two and fanning six to earn the win in his Iowa debut.

? LF Tyler Colvin went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI … marked his second long ball in the last three games and his ninth of the season.
? 3B Josh Lansford was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI … 12 of his 25 hits with Tennessee have been two-baggers.
? RHP Matt Avery tossed 3.0 innings of one-hit relief, punching out two to earn the win … marked his third straight scoreless outing (8.0 innings), over which he has allowed just five hits and a walk while striking out five.

Daytona scored five times in the first two innings, holding on to down the Devil Rays and move 2.0 games up in its division.

? CF James Adduci went 2-for-2 with a walk, a sacrifice bunt, a run scored, two RBI and a stolen base … his 20 stolen bases lead the team.
? Starter Marco Carillo tossed 5.0 innings of two-run, four-hit ball, walking two and striking out five to earn the win … he has allowed two or fewer runs in seven of his last eight starts.
? RHP Jeremy Papelbon hurled 2.0 perfect innings of relief, fanning four … he ran his scoreless inning streak to 18.2 innings, a span of 11 appearances over which he has allowed just 10 hits and eight walks (0.96 WHIP) while punching out 16.

Peoria scored once in the bottom of the ninth, but failed to complete the comeback, dropping the series finale to Kane County, 3-2.

? 2B Jake Opitz logged his first multi-hit performance with the Chiefs, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
? SS Nate Samson finished 1-for-3, extending his hitting streak to nine games and his on-base streak to 21 straight.


Boise Hawks (A-): 27-16 Overall

The Dust Devils scored three times in the top of the ninth to push the game into extra frames, but the Hawks got the last laugh, walking away 7-6 winners in 13 innings.

? 1B Sean Hoorelbeke singled five times, finishing the day 5-for-7 with two RBI … he is hitting .400 (6-for-15) over his first three games since his promotion from Mesa.
? DH Ryan Keedy notched his fifth straight multi-hit game, going 4-for-5 with a walk and an RBI … he is hitting .652 (15-for-23) with three doubles, a homer, four runs scored and six RBI over that stretch.
? RHP Dan McDaniel tossed 2.0 innings of one-hit ball, fanning three … he has yet to allow a run this season, yielding just five hits and five walks while punching out 28 over 16.1 inning pitched (0.61 WHIP, 15.4 K/9 IP).

Mesa could not overcome a five-run fourth inning from the AZL Rangers, falling 7-5.

? 2B Starlin Castro had the only multi-hit affair for the Cubs, going 2-for-3 … he has hit in four straight games, going 6-for-16 (.375) with a triple, a homer, three runs scored and an RBI over that stretch.

Game 2

In a make-up game from the first half of the season, the Cubs squeezed past the Rangers in a pitcher’s duel, 2-1 … the victory is counted in the Cubs first-half season totals, improving their record to 18-10.

? Starter Ryan Searle allowed just three base-runners in his 5.0 innings of work, striking out four to earn his first win.
