Despite playing only one game in the last week, Daytona knocked out 14 hits in an 8-1 victory over Vero Beach in the first of a four-game series … the victory kept Daytona ahead of Jupiter by a slim margin in winning percentage as the teams battle for first place in the Florida State League Eastern Division.

HOMERS – James Adduci (3)

? DH Blake Lalli went 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and two RBI, extending his hitting streak to five games … he is hitting .500 (10-for-20) over the streak.
? CF James Adduci went 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and an RBI … he leads the team with 126 hits and 77 runs scored … his 77 runs are tied for second in the Florida State League.
? LF Ty Wright went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a run scored and three RBI … his 65 RBI lead Daytona.

Iowa’s rally came up short and the I-Cubs dropped a 5-4 decision to host Memphis.

HOMERS – Anthony Richie (3)

? SS Luis Figueroa went 1-for-1 with a walk … he has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games, going 20-for-46 (.435) with three doubles, nine runs scored and six RBI over that stretch.
? C Anthony Richie launched his third homer of the year as part of a 2-for-3 day including a walk, a double, the roundtripper, two runs scored and an RBI … he has hit safely in 11 of his last 12 games, going 14-for-35 (.400).
? 2B Bobby Scales went 2-for-4 with a double and his team-leading 94th run scored.

Peoria scored two runs in the first inning, but couldn’t hold the lead, falling to Clinton, 5-2.

? 3B Jovan Rosa went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored, adding to his Chiefs single-season record with 41 doubles … Rosa leads the Midwest League in doubles and ranks third with 51 extra-base hits.
? SS Nate Samson reached base four times as part of a 2-for-3 night that included two walks … he leads the team in walks (39), hits (138) and runs scored (68) … with six games left to play, he ranks tied for ninth in the Midwest League in batting average (.296) and fifth in hits.
? Former first base coach Min Sung made his professional debut in right field while batting seventh in the lineup … he grounded out to first in the second inning and walked to lead off the fourth before being replaced by RF Elvis Lara.


Boise Hawks (A-): 39-29 Overall

Boise received strong pitching, but the league’s best hitting lineup stumbled in a 3-1 loss to last-place Yakima … Boise trails Spokane by six games in the division standings with eight games remaining in the regular season.

RHP Ryan Searle (L 0-2, 1.27) 5.0 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K   

HOMERS – Ryan Keedy (3)

? 1B Ryan Keedy went 2-for-3 with a walk, his third home run, a run scored and an RBI.
? C Carlos Perez went 2-for-4, raising his average to .333 (17-for-51) in 14 August games.
? 2B Marwin Gonzalez went 1-for-3, extending his hitting streak to four games … he is hitting .360       (31-for-86) in 24 August contests.
? Starting pitcher Ryan Searle pitched 5.0 solid innings, allowing an unearned run on a walk and seven hits while striking out three, lowering his ERA from 1.65 to 1.27.

? SS Junior Lake went 2-for-4 with a double, extending his hitting streak to three games.
? C Alvaro Sosa went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, recording his fourth multi-hit game of the season.
? RHP Julio Pena yielded an unearned run on a walk and a hit over 3.0 innings of relief, striking out two.
