Daytona beat Vero Beach, 6-3, extending its winning streak to seven games … the victory kept Daytona ahead of Jupiter by a slim margin in winning percentage as the teams battle for first place in the Florida State League Eastern Division … Daytona needs two wins in its four-game series with Jupiter this weekend to clinch a playoff berth.

? DH Dylan Johnston went 1-for-2 with his 13th home run, a run scored and two RBI … he is hitting .357 (15-for-42) in 12 August games.
? RHP Jon Lieber was efficient in his second rehab appearance for Peoria, allowing one hit in 2.0 scoreless innings of relief.

Boise beat Yakima, 9-4 to keep its postseason hopes alive … Boise plays its final six games against first-place Spokane (three in Boise starting Friday night and three in Spokane starting Monday), needing to win out to make the playoffs.

? CF Tony Campana stole his team-leading 20th base.
? RHP Eric Allen yielded two hits and two walks over 2.0 scoreless innings of relief, striking out two … he has a 3.86 ERA (3 ER/7.0 IP) with six strikeouts in five August appearances.
