Iowa closed out the Pacific Coast League regular season with a 13-8 loss to Omaha … the American Northern Division champion Cubs open a best-of-five playoff series on Wednesday evening against Oklahoma in Des Moines … the I-Cubs play Wednesday and Thursday in Des Moines before the first-round playoff series shifts to Oklahoma on Friday.

LHP Jason Stanford (L 3-1, 5.06) 5.1 IP, 12 H, 8 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 3 K   

HOMERS – Jason Dubois (25)

? RF Josh Kroeger recorded the only multi-hit affair for Iowa, going 2-for-5 with two doubles, a run scored and two RBI … extending his hitting streak to a season-high 11 games. 
? LF Andres Torres stole two bases, his 28th and 29th of the season, surpassing Tucson OF Tim Raines Jr. for the most in the PCL this year … he went 1-for-3 with two walks, a run scored and the two stolen bases.
? 1B Jason Dubois went 1-for-5 with his 25th homer, two runs scored and a season-high four RBI … also plated four July 9 vs. Round Rock … his 25th homer ties him for the team high with Micah Hoffpauir … he hit .357 (5-for-14) with a double, a homer, three runs scored and eight RBI in his last three games.
? The I-Cubs played without Hoffpauir, Koyie Hill, Casey McGehee, Michael Wuertz and Angel Guzman … the five players were recalled by Chicago September 1, the first day active Major League rosters can be expanded to 40 players.



Tennessee Smokies (AA): 35-34 Overallsmokies.gif
North Division 2nd Place (-6.5)

Tennessee concluded its season with a 7-4 setback to Carolina … the Smokies finished the second half 35-34, good for second place in the Southern League’s North Division.

RHP Mark Holliman (ND 3-4, 4.50) 6.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 8 K   

? SS Matt Camp collected three hits, going 3-for-5 with an RBI and his team-leading 23rd stolen base.
? 3B Kyle Reynolds went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI … he hit safely in seven of his last nine games.
? CF Sam Fuld went 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a stolen base … he hit safely in 19 of his last 20 games, raising his average from .232 to .271.
? Starting pitcher Mark Holliman allowed three runs on six hits and four walks, while striking out a season-high eight in 6.0 innings.


Peoria Chiefs (A-): 30-40 Overall

Peoria dropped its season finale to Kane County, 13-4 … the Chiefs finished the second half 30-40.

HOMERS – Jonathan Wyatt (6), Rebel Ridling (10)

? 2B Josh Harrison recorded the only multi-hit affair for the Chiefs, going 2-for-4.
? 1B Rebel Ridling went 1-for-3 with a walk, his 10th home run, two runs scored and an RBI.
? RF Jonathan Wyatt went 1-for-4 with his sixth home run, a run scored and three RBI … he finished the season with six hits in his last 13 at-bats.

Boise squandered a ninth-inning lead, dropping a 3-2 decision to Spokane.

RHP Aaron Shafer (ND 2-2, 3.09) 5.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K   

HOMERS – Michael Brenly (1)

? 3B Josh Vitters recorded the Hawks only multi-hit affair, going 3-for-4 with three doubles and an RBI … his 25 two-baggers lead the team.
? C Michael Brenly went 1-for-2 with a walk, his first home run of the season, a run scored and an RBI.
? Starting pitcher Aaron Shafer threw 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks while striking out five … he is 1-1 with an 0.53 ERA (1 ER/17.0 IP) in four road starts.
