Iowa Cubs (AAA): 83-59 Overall

Iowa begins a best-of-five playoff series with Oklahoma this evening … the I-Cubs play tonight and Thursday in Des Moines before the series shifts to Oklahoma on Friday … Iowa finished    83-59 in the American North Division, its best record since going 85-59 in 1998 … Oklahoma (76-68) won the American South … Iowa’s last playoff appearance was in 2004, when the         I-Cubs defeated Oklahoma three-games-to-two in the first round … the Iowa-Oklahoma winner will meet the winner of Salt Lake-Sacramento in the Pacific League Championship Series … the PCL champion will play the International League champion in a one-game matchup in Oklahoma City.


Daytona Cubs (A+): 38-24 Overall

A torrential downpour postponed Game 1 of the Florida State League East Division playoffs between Daytona and Palm Beach … the game was stopped at 8:17 p.m. ET with the Cubs trailing the Cardinals 4-0 with nobody out in the home half of the fifth inning … the downpour left standing water throughout the outfield and at 11:15 p.m. ET, the game was cancelled … Palm Beach loses its 4-0 lead because rules dictate a playoff game that has not reached regulation (at least five innings if the visiting team is ahead or four and a half innings if the home team leads) must begin all over … Game 1 has been rescheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET tonight at Jupiter’s Roger Dean Stadium … Game 2 is now slated for Thursday evening in Daytona … if necessary, Game 3 will be played in Jupiter on Friday night.

Daytona earned the playoff berth by winning the FSL East Division’s second half with a 38-24 record, a .613 winning percentage … Palm Beach won the first half with a 42-28 mark … the Daytona-Palm Beach winner will meet the winner of Fort Myers-Dunedin in the  best-of-five FSL Championship Series.



Boise Hawks (A-): 43-32 Overall

Spokane broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning and added an insurance run in the eighth in a 6-4 victory over Boise … the Hawks play its season finale tonight at Spokane.

LHP James Leverton (ND 1-3, 4.61) 4.1 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 7 K  

? 2B David Macias went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI … he is hitting .500 (5-for-10) in three games playing second base.
? DH Michael Brenly recorded his 13th multi-hit game of the season, going 2-for-4 … he is hitting .500   (3-for-6) with a walk, a home run, a run scored and an RBI in two September games … he has recorded multiple hits in five of the last six games in which he has hit safely.

? SS Marwin Gonzalez went 1-for-4 with an RBI … he has recorded a hit in nine of his last 10 games.
