Oklahoma took advantage of five unearned runs in the second inning and defeated Iowa, 6-2 to even the Pacific Coast League playoff series at 1-1 … the best-of-five series moves to Oklahoma for Game 3 tonight.

Iowa finished 83-59 in the American North Division, its best record since going 85-59 in 1998 … Oklahoma (76-68) won the American South … Iowa’s previous playoff appearance was in 2004, when the I-Cubs defeated Oklahoma three-games-to-two in the first round … the                  Iowa-Oklahoma winner will meet the winner of Salt Lake-Sacramento in the PCL Championship Series … the PCL champion will play the International League champion in a one-game matchup in Oklahoma City.

LHP J.R. Mathes (L 0-1, 1.80) 5.0 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K   

? 1B Jason Dubois went 2-for-3 with a walk … he is hitting .625 (5-for-8) in the series with a walk, two doubles, a home run, a run scored and three RBI.
? RF Josh Kroeger went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI … he is hitting .333 (3-for-9) in the series with a double, a run scored and an RBI.
? SS Andres Blanco recorded a multi-hit affair, going 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored … he is hitting .286 (2-for-7) in the series with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.
? Starting pitcher J.R. Mathes took the tough-luck loss, allowing six runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out four in 5.0 innings.

Daytona’s ninth-inning rally came up short as the Cubs dropped a 5-4 decision to Palm Beach, evening the best-of-three playoff series at a game apiece … the teams head to Jupiter tonight for the decisive third game.

Daytona earned the playoff berth by winning the FSL East Division’s second half with a 38-24 record, a .613 winning percentage … Palm Beach won the first half with a 42-28 mark … the Daytona-Palm Beach winner will meet Fort Myers in the best-of-five FSL Championship Series starting Saturday in Fort Myers.

RHP Marcos Mateo (L 0-1, 2.45) 3.2 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K   

? 2B Tony Thomas went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and a run scored … he is hitting .500 (4-for-8) in the series with a walk, a double, two runs scored and an RBI. 
? C Steve Clevenger went 1-for-4 … he is hitting .444 (4-for-9) in the series.
? SS Darwin Barney went 1-for-4 with a run scored … he is hitting .500 (4-for-8) in the series with three runs scored and an RBI.
? LF Ty Wright went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run scored and two RBI … he is hitting .250 (2-for-8) in the series with a walk, a double, two runs scored and four RBI … before the game he was named FSL Player of the Week for the final week (August 25-September 1) of the regular season, hitting .500 (13-for-26) with two doubles and 10 RBI over the span.
? RHP Andrew Cashner threw 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing no hits and three walks while striking out seven.
