Part of a new history
The Cubs opened up the new Yankee Stadium over the weekend with a pair of exhibition games, and Vine Line was on the scene.
It was a homecoming for Alfonso Soriano and Lou Piniella, who enjoyed seeing their old stomping grounds recreated with elements of both the pre- and post-renovation (1974-75) old Yankee Stadium. The new ballpark appears to have recreated — and even amplified — the grandeur of the classic field, which was the first baseball park to ever be called a “stadium.”
