Solar Sox earn 7-7 tie with Phoenix
Mesa had a 6-2 lead over Phoenix heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, but Marlins prospect Kyle Jensen ripped a 450-foot grand slam to center to tie the game. Each team tacked on one additional run, but the game was called a 7-7 tie after 11 innings.
For his second straight outing, Dae-Eun Rhee cruised through his first three innings before surrendering runs in the fourth. This time he gave up a pair—one on an RBI ground out and another on an inherited sacrifice fly after he left the game. He went 3.2 innings, giving up six hits and two earned runs. Of his 58 pitches, 43 were strikes.
Javier Baez drove in his 13th run of the fall on a single up the middle in the fifth. In the seventh, he reached on an error and scored two batters later on a Joc Pederson single. He finished the day 1-for-5 and committed two errors at third, bringing his total to nine.
Tony Zych pitched 1.2 scoreless innings of relief and surrendered three hits.
The Solar Sox host Scottsdale on Wednesday, with first pitch scheduled for 12:35 local time.
