Winter League Highlights: Ha keeps hitting in Venezuela
Cubs outfielder Jae-Hoon Ha is far from his native South Korea, but he didn’t let any potential homesickness disrupt his play on Sunday in the Venezuelan League. The outfielder recorded a pair of hits, including a double, to help his team Tigres de Aragua to a 5-0 victory. He also swiped his sixth stolen base of the season. So far in 22 games, Ha has hit .238/.294/.286 (AVG/OBP/SLG) with three doubles. He spent the majority of the 2012 season with Double-A Tennessee.
Though he only pitched 2/3 of an inning for Dominican team Toros del Este, Cubs Single-A pitcher Jeffry Antigua recorded his fourth victory of the season Saturday. In 12.2 innings pitched, the lefty has a 4.26 ERA and has struck out 12. He split time between Single-A Peoria and Double-A Tennessee this summer.
In Mexico Sunday, Esmailin Caridad earned his seventh hold of the season, pitching a scoreless eighth inning to give Yaquis de Obregon the 6-3 win. In 21.2 innings this fall, the righty has a 1.66 ERA and has struck out 27, walking six. He was at Triple-A Iowa last summer.
