Former Cubs player Ron Coomer was named the organization’s new radio analyst Friday.

The 47-year-old Lockport, Ill., native played nine major league seasons, mostly as an infielder, with the Twins (1995-2000), Cubs (2001), Yankees (2002) and Dodgers (2003). He previously served as an in-studio TV analyst for the Twins.

Coomer will join play-by-play man Pat Hughes and replace Keith Moreland, who stepped down earlier this offseason to spend more time with his family in Texas.
