Now Playing: It’s Javy Time
Just one week into his major league career, infielder Javier Baez has already made quite an impression on the baseball world—and especially on the Cubs’ fan base. Hyped as one of the game’s best young prospects (No. 5, according to MLB.com), the 21-year-old slugger hit the go-ahead home run in his major league debut on Aug. 5 against the Rockies. Fans were already sporting his No. 9 jersey and cheering loudly for each at-bat when he made his Wrigley Field debut on Friday. In eight games and 37 plate appearances, Baez is hitting .243/.243/.541 (AVG/OBP/SLG) with three homers, two doubles and six RBI.
