Iowa used strong starting pitching from J.R. Mathes and another offensive outburst by Micah Hoffpauir to defeat New Orleans, 5-1.

HOMERS - Micah Hoffpauir (20)
• Mathes earned the win with 8.0 solid innings, allowing one run on five hits and two walks while striking out five, lowering his ERA from 4.57 to 4.34 ... it was his longest outing of the season.
• Hoffpauir went 2-for-3 with a walk, his 20th home run, three runs scored, two RBI and his first stolen base of the season ... he is 5-for-6 (.833) with a walk, a double, a home run, four runs scored, four RBI and a stolen base in the first two games of the series with New Orleans ... his 83 RBI lead the team.
• 2B Bobby Scales went 3-for-4 with his 51st RBI, raising his batting average to .309 and his on-base percentage to .406.

Tennessee set season highs for hits (24) and runs (19), ambushing Birmingham, 19-7.

HOMERS - Jake Fox (21)
• Starting pitcher Esmailin Caridad earned the win with 7.0 impressive innings of work, allowing a run on four hits and three walks, while striking out six ... he has recorded quality starts in four of his last six outings.
• 1B Jake Fox hit a two-out, two-run homer in the first inning, his fifth over his last seven games, finishing the evening 1-for-4 with a walk, the homer, two runs scored and three RBI ... his 21 roundtrippers lead the team and rank second in the Southern League, leaving him two behind Michael Wilson of West Tennessee.
• CF Sam Fuld was 3-for-6 with a double, a run scored and two RBI ... his is 9-for-14 (.643) with three walks, three runs scored and five RBI over his last three games, raising his average from .232 to .254.
• 2B Nate Spears went 4-for-6 with a double, four runs scored and an RBI ... the four knocks and four runs scored are season highs.
• C Mark Reed went 5-for-6 with a double, two runs scored and five RBI in his first game since coming off the disabled list ... he suffered a broken left hand sliding head-first into second base during a game at Carolina in early July, spending five weeks on the DL ... the five hits are one short of the Southern League record for most hits in a game (held by ten players).

A 40-minute rain delay and strong pitching by Wisconsin was too much for Peoria to overcome as the Chiefs dropped a 3-2 decision to the Timber Rattlers.

• CF Brandon Guyer went 1-for-4 with his 25th double, a run scored and his team-leading 19th stolen base ... he is 5-for-15 (.333) with a double, a triple, a home run, four runs scored and two RBI over the past four games.
• 2B Josh Harrison recorded the only multi-hit game for the Chiefs, finishing 2-for-5.
• Starting pitcher Casey Coleman gave up a run on five hits over his 4.0 innings of work, striking out three ... he has allowed only one earned run in each of his four starts (18.1 IP) ... he has not issued a free pass in three of his four outings.

Boise pounded out 13 hits in a 12-4 victory over division-leading Spokane ... with its second straight win over Spokane, the Hawks narrowed the Indians' East Division lead to five games.

• 3B Josh Vitters extended his hitting streak to 20 games, going 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI ... he is 33-for-90 (.367) with 10 doubles, two homers, 16 runs scored and 11 RBI over the streak.
• SS Ryan Flaherty reached base three times, going 1-for-3 with two walks and a run scored ... he is 23-for-57 (.404) over his current 13-game hitting streak.
• Starting pitcher Andrew Cashner no-hit Spokane through four scoreless innings, limiting the Indians to two walks while striking out four.
