Iowa rallied past New Orleans, 2-1 ... the I-Cubs extended their winning streak to seven games, matching their season high (June 29-July 4).

HOMERS - Micah Hoffpauir (23)

• CF Felix Pie scored the game-winning run as part of a 2-for-4 night that included a double and the run scored ... he is hitting .329 (27-for-82) since the All-Star break.
• Starter J.R. Mathes picked up his second straight win against New Orleans ... he allowed one unearned run on four hits, while striking out four in 7.0 innings ... he boasts a 0.60 ERA (1 ER/15 IP) over those two wins. 
• 1B Micah Hoffpauir went 1-for-4 with a home run, a run scored and his team-leading 86th RBI ... he is tied for the team lead and set a new personal season high with his 23rd homer.

Tennessee plated 11 runs on 23 hits as they smoked the Montgomery Biscuits, 11-2.

HOMERS - Nate Spears (7), Matt Matulia (2), Kyle Reynolds (10), Jake Fox (23)

• LF Tyler Colvin went 2-for-5 with a walk and a run scored ... he has picked up multi-hit affairs in each of the last 11 games in which he has recorded a hit, going 25-for-52 (.481) over those contests.
• CF Sam Fuld, who was 5-for-6 with an RBI, extended his hitting streak to seven games ... he is 17-for-32 (.531) with two doubles, two stolen bases, six walks, six runs scored and six RBI over the stretch, raising his batting average from .232 to .266 ... the five hits are a season high.
• Starting pitcher Marco Carrillo shut down the Biscuits, allowing a run on six hits and three walks, while punching out five in 5.0 innings.
• C Welington Castillo had a season-high five hits, going 5-for-6 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.
• DH Jake Fox hit his team-leading 23rd home run and reached base four times as part of a 2-for-4 night that included two walks, the homer, three runs scored and an RBI.

Daytona beat Jupiter, 6-5 in 10 innings, to pull even with the Hammerheads in the Florida State League East Division standings.

• 1B Russ Canzler went 2-for-5 with a run scored ... he is 4-for-9 with a home run, three runs scored and an RBI in the last two games.
• DH-P Blake Lalli went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored ... he pitched the 10th inning because the Cubs were out of pitchers and earned the win.
• RF Ryan Harvey tied the game at five with a two-run homer in the eighth inning and he doubled home the game-winning run in the 10th ... he finished the night 2-for-5 with the double, the home run, a run scored and three RBI.
• 2B Tony Thomas chipped in with three hits as part of a 3-for-5 night that included his 21st stolen base.
• C Robinson Chirinos reached base in all four of his plate appearances, going 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI.


Peoria Chiefs (A-): 27-30 Overall

Peoria erased a four-run deficit in the final two innings, rallying to defeat Clinton, 6-5.

• LF Rebel Ridling went 2-for-4 with a home run, a run scored and two RBI ... he has homered in four straight games, tying the franchise record set by Jordan Robison (May 9-14, 2002) ... he is 6-for-16 (.375) with five home runs, five runs scored and ten RBI over the stretch.
• RF Jonathan Wyatt went 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored.
• 3B Jovan Rosa went 2-for-4 with a walk, a triple, two runs scored and two RBI ... he has hit safely in three straight games.
• RHP Stephen Vento worked two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two, picking up his seventh win of the season.

Boise dropped a one-run decision for the second straight game, falling to host Vancouver, 6-5.

• 3B Josh Vitters extended his hitting streak to 24 games, going 1-for-5 with a double ... he is 39-for-108 (.361) with 12 doubles, two homers, 17 runs scored and 11 RBI over the streak.
• DH Sean Hoorelbeke went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI ... he has four multi-hit performances in his last six games.
• 2B Marwin Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and his team-leading 14th stolen base ... he has hit safely in his last five starts.

Mesa's offense continues to shine as the Cubs used a 13-hit attack to hold off the AZL Athletics, 10-8.
