Iowa scored seven runs over the first two innings, but it was not enough to beat the Bees, who improved upon their league-leading record with an 11-8 defeat of the I-Cubs.

HOMERS - Micah Hoffpauir (15)
• 1B Micah Hoffpauir homered as part of his fifth straight two-hit game, going 2-for-5 with a double, the dinger, two runs scored and four RBI ... his 72 RBI are tied for the team lead (Casey McGehee), despite playing only 48 games for Iowa.
• LF Jason Dubois went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI ... he is hitting .421 (8-for-19) with a double, three homers, five runs scored and four RBI in August.
• 2B Bobby Scales reached base four times, going 1-for-2 with three walks and three runs scored ... he is 4-for-8 with five walks, a triple, seven runs scored and a stolen base over the first three games of the series.
Tennessee Smokies (AA): 23-22 Overall
North Division 2nd Place (-5.0)
Tennessee dug itself out of an early 3-0 deficit to tie the game in the sixth, but Carolina plated a run in the top of the ninth to hand the Smokies their fourth straight defeat.

• RF Doug Deeds went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI ... his .334 average is good for fifth in the Southern League, just seven points behind league-leader Mat Gamel of Huntsville (.341).
• SS Matt Camp went 2-for-3 with his team-leading 17th stolen base ... marked his 27th multi-hit game of the year.
• RHP Greg Reinhard gave up four hits while striking out two over 2.0 scoreless relief innings.
Daytona Cubs (A+): 25-16 Overall
East Division 1st Place (+1.5)
Palm Beach scored six times in the fourth, cutting Daytona's division lead to 1.5 games.

HOMERS - Ty Wright (7)
• LF Ty Wright homered for the third time in four games, finishing the day 1-for-3 with two walks, the long ball, a run scored and three RBI ... after going deep just twice in his first 83 games of the season, he has cleared the fence five times in his last ten contests.
• CF James Adduci reached base all five times, going 2-for-2 with three walks and two runs scored.
• RHP Jeremy Papelbon was sharp in his first start of the year, tossing 3.0 innings of three-hit, shutout ball, fanning one ... he extended his scoreless streak to 15.2 innings pitched, over which he has allowed just seven hits and six walks (0.83 WHIP) while punching out 10.

Western Division Tied 4th Place (-3.5)
Peoria put up a pair in the first, but Burlington plated the game's next seven runs and held on to hand the Chiefs their eighth loss in their last ten games, 7-4.

• 3B Jovan Rosa homered for the second straight game and the third time in six contests, going 10-for-21 (.476) with three doubles, three homers, five runs scored and eight RBI over that span.
• RHP Jon Mueller tossed 1.0 inning of perfect relief, fanning one.

Boise out-hit Yakima 10-7, but could not beat them in the run column, as the Hawks fell to the Bears, 6-4.
