OPENING DAY It was a blur. It was a surreal experience. The whole thing just flew by. But once the game started and we got going, it really was relaxing, to be honest. There was a lot of buildup, so once the first pitch came, it was almost a relief.
NERVOUS? I was most nervous to read the Ron Santo tribute because it was a big event. So once I got through that, I felt good and everything else really flowed very nicely, I think.
THE AUDITIONS My sister called me initially about four weeks ago and said, ‘Maybe send them a tape,’ and I said, ‘Well, I’ve got nothing to lose.’ So we did a YouTube video—it was the best way to get my video to the Cubs so they could see it. There were just under 3,000 people, and they narrowed it down to 25. After that, I came here and did a live audition at Wrigley Field. Then they narrowed it down to four, and we came back and did one more audition. The Friday before Opening Day they made their final decision. (more…)
